Found on an old envelope postmarked Oct, 17, 1955 from Independence, Kansas addressed to Allen Hull. Rose (Grandma Hull) must have written this recipe on the back of the envelope and stuffed it away for safe keeping.

Date Roll

3 c sugar

1 lb butter

1 1/2 c milk

Boil 3 min.

1 cup dates

Cook to soft boil.

    I remember making Grandma Hulls date roll. My mom also made it. Mom rolled it in a damp flour sack tea towel. Delicious!! Brings back great old memories…I can almost taste it now!!!!
