About
I live in Minnesota. I love it. Usually. Except in March and April when we STILL have snow.
I was born in Kansas but ended up in the Rocket City- Huntsville, Alabama where my dad was an astrophysicist at NASA. My mom stayed home with my sister and me. She also taught piano so I pretty much knew all the tunes in the popular piano books of the day.
I met my husband, Don, in college in Oklahoma City. We lived in Alabama and Georgia but landed in Minnesota and it stuck. We have three sons and two daughter-in-laws. Raising three sons was a riot especially after growing up with one sister and knowing all things Barbies. Then the daughters-in-law came along and my life was changed forever- for the good. Not only were there other females around now, but I hit the jackpot with those beautiful girls.
When I graduated college I started out as a math teacher and absolutely loved the classroom and the school and the students. Then I had kids. Life changed. I stayed home. And I absolutely loved that. As they grew older, I started doing other things. . . oh like starting a children’s curriculum company, becoming a children’s pastor, speaking, writing a few articles and such. Somewhere along the way I became a Pastor of Innovations which meant I got to be creative and dream and then executive those dreams. I also started Sojourn– now a non-profit. So I was pretty busy there for a long time. Today I speak, write and direct Sojourn.
I’ve had enough struggles along the way just like anyone else. Times I’ve felt broken in half and I’ll speak about those or you can find my story interwoven through the blog. I try to be as real as possible about my experiences while still being respectful of those involved.
Today I’m focusing on writing and speaking. I guess I would say my mission statement is to create experiences that breath life into people. Whether planning a party or a sermon or vintage journal, that’s what I love to do.
If you really want to know me. . . just imagine someone living between creative idealism and practical reality. Loving God and others the best she knows how. That’s pretty much who I am.
